About Lee

I started life as a playwright and a dreamer. Inspired by the clean energy revolution, I went to work for a solar startup in San Francisco. I then moved to New York and worked for a nonprofit, where I was inspired by the people and organizations fighting every day to help those in need.

When it was time to settle down with my wife and build our own family, I moved to Long Beach. Although I was raised in NorCal, the Goldins have lived in Long Beach for over 100 years, ever since my great grandpa John started selling fruit by the side of the road. My father was raised here and I spent my summers and holidays staying here with my grandparents. After all my rambling, it was the only place I really knew as home. I now have a great career in the tech sector and we have two wonderful kids and a beautiful home.

I wish I could just close my eyes and enjoy these blessings, but no one in their right mind can turn a blind eye to the humanitarian crisis of homelessness in Long Beach. My family taught me that if you see people suffering, you have to stand up and fight for them. My education taught me that when we help the most vulnerable, all of society benefits. My religion taught me that helping those in need isn’t a choice, it’s God’s will. If you’re a pragmatist, a bleeding heart or a person of faith, it’s our duty to end homelessness. Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, you know this has to end.

Join me to End Homelessness in Long Beach. And then we can inspire the world to follow our lead.

I recognize that this is Tongva land and that I am just a visitor. Many have lived here before, and I hope many will live here after I am gone. My "ownership" of the land my home sits upon is a societal construct, it represents that my family temporarily has a right to live here as long as we maintain it and keep it safe.

My mission in life is to make sure everyone else feels the same pride and responsibility that I do for the blessing of having a roof over my head.
